Chantal Buchser - Senior Project Manager, Sports Department, International Olympic Committee
"The AISTS MAS in Sport Adminstration experience was incredible. I joined a class of individuals from around the world of varying backgrounds and levels of experience all passionate and motivated to contribute to the world of sport. Together, we learned from our professors and experts, learned from each other and had the opportunity to visit with and meet some of the top experts in this field. I left the programme with a solid foundation of knowledge which prepared me to jump right in and actively contribute to this dynamic and ever-evolving industry."
Li Neo Tay - Managing Expert, Sport Entries Unit, Sport and IF Services for Mega Events (Singapore 2010, Innsbruck 2012, Sochi 2014, Lillehammer 2016, Buenos Aires 2018)
"I have always been involved in sports but it was only after getting my degree in IT that I realized that my passion was sports and I wanted to make a career out of it. The AISTS MAS in Sport Administration was my stepping stone towards achieving this. The reasons I chose the program were its trans-disciplinary subject and its location in Lausanne, the Olympic Capital. It gave me the opportunity to interact with administrators who are working in different sport organizations including the International Olympic Committee. These sessions proved to be very engaging and were indeed a very enriching feature of the program.
The uniqueness of this program lies in the diversity of its participants. The highlight of my year of the AISTS MAS in Sport Administration was the relationships that I built with my multi-national classmates, whom I am now proud to call my good friends. As a group, we gained theoretical knowledge in class but we learned even more outside the classroom which could only be relayed through our personal experiences.
The AISTS MAS in Sport Administration helped me find the entrance to my career but the values and relationships which I developed during that year are what matter the most now as I continue my journey."
Misaki Tsuruta - International Relations Manager, Avaí Futebol Clube (Brazil)
"Taking part in the AISTS MAS in Sport Administration was a great opportunity to meet and be friends with people from all over the world who have the same passion for sports. I learned many principles and theories that I use even today at work. I also really enjoyed being involved with the class football team and visiting the breath-taking mountain sites in Switzerland.
The close relationship with the IOC is an important facet of the programme. I think modules like sustainability, technology and law are very important too.
I really would recommend the programme to people considering changing their career for one in sport. It gives an over-all vision of the sports industry. It is also a good opportunity to network and find out if your dreams and ambitions will really fit in with the nature of the industry.
I did a part-time job at the International Gymnastics Federation. Their recommendation letter served me for many initial opportunities that I had in Brazil. I think the most important thing is to explore many different domains which exist in the sports industry and find what you like. And, your objective should be to find an internship that helps you discover more of what you really like.
In addition, it was helpful to have speakers from relevant backgrounds explain what the sport industry is like now. Although I was mainly interested in listening to professionals involved in the area that I’m interested in (football), these speakers really gave me insights that are not often revealed in books."
