About Alfred State SUNY College of Technology

Country United States

Alfred State is a small SUNY College of Technology with approximately 3,500 students and a 20:1 student faculty ratio located in the beautiful Southern Tier of New York. We have 29 bachelor’s degree programs in everything from arts and sciences to architecture, management, and engineering technologies. Our students study in-demand fields such as human services management, digital media and animation, and forensic science technology. And some of our most popular programs—like technology management and nursing—are also offered online.

What makes Alfred State worth the trip? Our distinct focus of hands-on, experience-based education and our passion for student leadership, civic engagement, and sustainability sets us apart. In fact, U.S. News and World Report consistently ranks Alfred State among best regional colleges in the North and among top public schools in the North. Money Magazine named 9 of our programs in the top 10 in the nation for best colleges for your money. Our students are winning awards for solar home design in China, racing cars in Utah, and studying architecture in Italy.

Yet our strong sense of community really stems from our small town feel and residential environment. A full 75 percent of our students live and learn on campus in one of our 13 residence halls or within our 150-bed townhouse complex, where they make lifelong connections.

And all this comes with a uniquely affordable price tag. Tuition for out-of-state students entering one of our baccalaureate programs is just $16,320 per year, while students who’ve earned at least a 3.25 cumulative G.P.A. can be considered for transfer scholarships.
