All of the books required for the course are available from the library. The University also has PC labs and a laptop loan service. However, many students choose to buy some of the core textbooks for the course and/or a laptop. Students may also need to print their assignments and other documents. Campus printing costs start from 5p per page. Estimated costs are £300 for a laptop up to £100 each year for books and printing.

Some units may require Disclosure and Barring Service clearance. Responsibility for DBS on employment based and CPD programmes normally lies with your employer and not the University. It is possible to complete the degree without taking units that require DBS clearance.

Students applying for this programme should be those working in health, social care or related fields, from a variety of organisational, hospital or community settings. This includes hospital, community-nursing staff, paramedics, those in professions allied to medicine, health trainers, smoking cessation advisors, public health or health promotion practitioners, drug and alcohol workers.
For students with substantial experience who already have an existing Nursing diploma and professional qualifications this is a way to enhance their professional development and career opportunities by attaining an honours degree.
This programme focuses on the professional development needs of the student .It provides the opportunity for students to source learning that meets both immediate and future practice needs. Designed to facilitate flexible, intra-professional learning opportunities, this degree programme can be studied at a pace suitable to the student (minimum normally two years, maximum normally three years).

The standard entry requirements for HE6 are that:
Applicants should be able to demonstrate their ability to study at the appropriate academic level and, where appropriate, would normally be employed in a field of health or social care practice.
The standard entry requirement is a relevant, UK (or equivalent) Diploma in Higher Education (DipHE) (120 HE level 5 credits). However, one of the core principles of the CHP degree is that it provides a programme of learning for practitioners working within health and social care, not all of whom will have professional qualifications or have completed DipHE level studies.
In order to maintain accessibility of the degree, but also be able to assess equivalency of attainment and preparedness for learning at level 6, students applying for the degree without a formal Diploma in Higher Education (HE5) will be considered individually. These students will be required to provide a portfolio of evidence, which will be mapped against the university standard descriptors for entry to level 5 (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning APEL). If this is the case, the programme leader will explain the process and what you need to provide.

Manchester Met is a fantastic place to further your studies. I first came to the University in 2011 as an undergraduate student and then continued on to study MSc Hospitality Management. The academic staff are excellent and the tutors here are qualified and very experienced. It has been a wonderful experience for both my undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
The facilities here are great with a library open 24/7 during term time and online databases. Many assignments involve working with industry on projects, which has enabled me to experience what working in the hospitality industry is really like. During my time here, I have networked with people from my industry, had my dissertation poster approved for a hospitality conference and won a placement in the US. It has definitely improved my CV.
The student support I have received here has been a great help. I applied for a placement in the US and staff at the University helped me throughout the process, from advice on my applications to help writing a great CV. English language support is also available through special programmes.
Manchester is such an international city and there are many friends to make and different cuisines to try. The student life here is great and there is lots to do from volunteering to sports. In my free time, I like to explore the museums and try out different restaurants in Manchester. I also enjoy traveling to different cities in the UK.
If you are considering Manchester Met for your studies my best advice would be to just say yes. Be aware of the opportunities available and just go for it!
