Create, create and bake
Once you’ve created your masterpieces using our state-of-the-art commercial machinery, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your creations in our fully operational restaurant, St Georges.
We’ve developed this combined Bakery and Commercial Kitchen course to provide you with all the necessary skills to work as a baker in a retail or wholesale bakery, or in a commercial kitchen. Our qualified, experienced teachers are focused on providing you with practical experience while you learn the fundamentals covering bread, cakes and pastries.
As a domestic/local student, you may be eligible for a Victorian Government subsidy. Check with the institution if you want more information about this.
Melbourne Polytechnic minimum academic level differs depending on the course. Most certificate and diploma level courses require evidence of completion to studies equivalent to Australian Year 11 or 12, bachelor degree courses require evidence of completion to studies equivalent to Australian Year 12, and master degree courses require evidence of completion to studies AQF (Australian) Bachelor degree or overseas equivalent.
If you do not meet Melbourne Polytechnic’s academic entry-level requirements but have acquired skills or knowledge relevant to your chosen course, you may apply as a mature age student. A mature age student is considered to be over 18 years old, and has been out of full-time education for at least one year.
