This exciting new four-year MComp course combines undergraduate and postgraduate content.
This course has been designed to cover the computer science foundation subjects and then build on this foundation with postgraduate level material in the final year. You will acquire the skills to become an independent learner and gain advanced skills in specialised areas such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, advanced analysis and design, embedded systems and programming.
A group project to manage and deliver a significant multidisciplinary engineering project will help you to further develop your communication, project management and teamworking skills.
In addition you will undertake a substantive individual project where you will be required to develop software or hardware in an innovative manner.
You have the option to transfer between the MComp degree and the BSc degree during the first two taught years of the course, subject to your performance and your chosen module in year two.

About the Computing and Technology Team
We have 35 full-time academic teaching staff with excellent support from our four dedicated technicians. We are very proud to have achieved 80% world-leading or internationally-excellent research impact (REF 2014).
We have a rich mix of knowledge ranging from software development for different types of system through to hardware aspects such as networking. This involves many uses of computing and considers all aspects including security and management. Our knowledge is built up and maintained through our wealth of industrial experience, our industrial links and our research activity. These are the ingredients for ensuring the relevance and vitality of your course.
Our highly regarded academics are active in a broad range of research areas, particularly in the areas of Games for Learning and in Security. For example, Professor David Brown leads several projects, funded by the European Union, in games and assistive technology while Professor Paul Evans' innovative developments in security are supported by USA Dept of Homeland Security.

Internet Applications Programming
Design and produce a static or dynamic website suitable for both desktop and mobile platforms which may contain complex scripted components.
The main aim of this module is to introduce and develop confidence using the structures, techniques and technologies to support the development of robust software systems in a team environment.
You have the option to undertake a one year work placements in industry. On successful completion you will gain an additional award - the Placement Diploma in Professional Practice.

Discover two challenging aspects of implementing distributed computing systems in Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA).
Group Design Project
During this module, you will focus mainly on the technical aspects of developing a crossdisciplinary group design project. The set projects will be taken from areas of advancing technology.
This module introduces the theory and practice of embedded engineering including performance, limitations, and benefits of micro-controllers and other embedded controller systems. Through the use of a small scale development project on an embedded device, you will develop knowledge and understanding of the communications and integration capabilities of embedded devices.
Applied Artificial Intelligence
Learn about a variety of artificial intelligence methods such as machine learning, reasoning and optimisation techniques, and how they can be used to solve real-world problems in engineering, operations research and science.
Learn how to critically analyse the security problems affecting computing systems at the operating system and application levels, understand the design patterns for developing secure code and devise security solutions and formulate detailed technical reports.

Entrepreneurial Leadership and Project Management
You will develop your appreciation of entrepreneurship and leadership, and their role in economic development, project management and entrepreneurial business success. You will learn the tools and methodologies for effective project management.

This module includes global business enterprises, global supply chain management, international marketing and the strategic importance of integrated marketing, design, finance, manufacturing and distribution.
Robotics and Cybernetics
This module provides an introduction to robotics, including sensors, actuators, feedback control systems, embedded systems programming and algorithm development. You will develop knowledge of the relevant theory, advanced techniques, and practice underpinning modern robotic and cybernetic systems. The module also investigates the issues and ideas associated with robotics including robot design, construction and programming techniques.
Information Security Management
This module provides you with knowledge and understanding of the main issues related to information security. Learn about security solutions, risks and computer forensics.

"I had been working in an NHS Haematology/Transfusion laboratory for three years when I came across the flexible Biosciences course at NTU.
I first heard about this degree through the IBMS website. I was looking for an accredited long distance course and found this was my favourite because of the specialised syllabus and the ability to carry out the modules at my own pace whatever time of day.
I read about the bursary award for this course on the NTU website. The bursary application was really straightforward and easy to complete. I had to explain my reasons for applying and how I was suitable for the bursary.
Without financial assistance I believe that I would have found it very difficult to complete this course over the two years and would perhaps have had to prolong my study to be able to manage the payments. Being awarded the bursary was a huge privilege and it has allowed me to concentrate on the course content instead of worrying about finding the next payment, for which I am extremely grateful.
The course is highly specific to my line of work and attendance will benefit the department by producing a more knowledgeable and experienced member of staff. This will improve both the quality of service and patient experience as well as ensuring my continuous professional development within the NHS.
My undergraduate research project was concerned with stem cells and the amount of apoptosis that occurs with overnight storage at 4◦C. This has encouraged me to read around the subject of stem cells and I believe these amazing cells have yet to be fully understood. I hope that my postgraduate research project will also give me passion for another subject area.

MRes Sports and Exercise Science - Nottingham Trent University
"After looking around the university on an open day I was amazed by the quality of the equipment throughout the university on Clifton.
The BSc (Hons) Exercise, Nutrition and Health degree course allows students to understand up to date, relevant sports science data in a hands-on job related environment with the most up to date equipment. I liked the fact that each course module was different, keeping each subject interesting, but with elements that allowed learning to overlap.
After finishing my undergraduate course I started looking for Masters Courses. I could not find a university with the same facilities and equipment that would help me achieve in the areas of sports science. Through my academic career I have developed the ability to apply scientific principles in the design, data collection and write up of nutrition/ physiology research projects.
All of my lecturers over my four years at Nottingham Trent University helped me with my studies, from drop in sessions, labs and lectures. They also helped me to achieve one publication and funding from the European Hydration Institute to begin research on another.
Nottingham is a busy city, which is easy to get to and cheap when living as a student and after student life. I am now working for Nottingham Trent University as a Laboratory Technician in CELS.
During my social time I am also continuing to research within the areas of sports science and nutrition with the help from fellow lecturers to add more published research to my CV.
