Anjali Goswami, MSc Marketing (Advertising and Communications) (India)
"Before I started studying at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), I was a graduate in Commerce and Event Management in India. I decided to move to the UK for the cultural exposure and I had heard of NTU and the Business School through some friends that were here already.
"Nottingham is an amazing student city where I get to meet so many different people from different cultures. The emails I received from the International team before I arrived already made me feel at home and I was excited to learn more about my course.
" When I leave I would like to work as part of a marketing or advertising firm; I feel that the skills that this course is giving me will help me achieve this."
Adebola Oredipe, MA Public Health, Nigeria
“I chose to study at NTU because my sisters were studying here and I felt I needed an environment where I could settle in fast with familiar faces. Assistance with my visa acquisition and prompt responses regarding admission questions contributed immensely to my decision. I had also read that NTU has been ranked highly in research, academic achievement and employability. I loved the fact that the location accommodated student life and living, and that students are not restricted to classroom learning. All of these factors put together were irresistible. I was also awarded an international postgraduate scholarship.
“For students considering coming to NTU, I would say come and experience life here for yourself. You will be exposed to lots of learning and job opportunities, so make use of the facilities and opportunities as much as you can. It is awesome to be in an environment where everyone is accepted regardless of your country or background – the School of Social Sciences at NTU really supports international and global unity.”
Tung On Yau, MSc Biomedical Science, Hong Kong
“NTU was my first choice for postgraduate study because of its links with industry, and the potential for industrial placements. It has one of the highest employability rates for students upon graduation, and this is without a doubt due to the highly transferable skills that are taught, and the efforts of the employability team. The support that the employability team offers through interview skills workshops, advice on tailoring CVs, and opportunities for placements is truly one of a kind. NTU also provides many generous scholarships, easing the burden of postgraduate study.
“Before I came to NTU, I knew that NTU is one of the top new universities in the UK, with the John van Geest cancer research centre being a state-of-the-art biomedical research centre. I also knew that NTU has a vibrant student population, and friendly international community. This clinched my decision to apply here.
“In addition to its excellent academic provisions, NTU also has wonderful sports facilities, and their sport teams compete regularly in national competitions. Equally, there are sports activities for the more casual participant. For those not interested in sports, there are also student societies catering to every interest imaginable! I believe that all students can enjoy their time here at NTU.”
