About International Business and Emerging Markets at The University of Edinburgh Business School, University of Edinburgh

Our MSc will develop your understanding of emerging markets and how businesses can benefit from the globalisation of the world's economy. Working with your peers on various group projects, you will gather a practical understanding of the complexities involved in doing business with emerging markets.

Programme overview

Our MSc will help you to appreciate the dynamism of individual nations and emerging economies, and to understand the key issues relating to the competitiveness of international business. It will also help you to develop the practical techniques and skills needed for working with companies on international business projects through a series of group projects and reporting exercises. Overall, the programme aims to inform you of how businesses can take advantage of economic globalisation and negotiate the rapid development of new economic powerhouses.

Programme structure

You will take three core courses in your first term (Sep-Dec) and two more in the second term (Jan-May), most of which have a substantial groupwork component. In both terms you will also have the opportunity to choose option courses from an extensive, annually reviewed list, which will allow you to tailor your studies towards your chosen career path. You will also carry out hands-on company project working with real business clients. The final dissertation will be written over the summer term (Jun-Aug) and is overseen by an academic supervisor.
