The University Centre of the Westfjords is a small higher educational organization located in Ísafjörður, Iceland. It offers two international and multidisciplinary master‘s programmes: Coastal Marine Management, MRM and Coastal Communities and Regional Development, MA.
Costal Marine Management focuses on natural resource management, sustainability, biology, sociology and economics while Coastal Communities and Regional Development focuses on the challenges of coastal communities, social sciences and humanities. The courses are modular, with plenty of international lecturers, company visits and field trips.
Ísafjörður is a rural town with a population around 2700 and is the largest town in the Westfjords. In a peaceful fjord, surrounded by mountains, it provides spectacular conditions for various winter and summer activities so it truly is a magical place to study in. An added bonus to studying in Ísafjörður is that the costs of living are lower than in Reykjavík.
