The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679), agreed and adopted in April 2016 by the European Parliament and Council, will replace the 1995 Data Protection Directive (official directive 95/46/EC) and will come into force from 25 May 2018.
GDPR conditions apply to all organisations, including small and medium companies as well as large enterprises. Companies must be ready to comply with this new regulation before the deadline; failing to comply will lead to penalties and fines of up to 4% of the annual worldwide turnover of the proceeding financial year.
