About Human Resource Management at University of Groningen

How do you keep your employees motivated? How do you optimize team performance? And how do you strategically align human resources with the goals of the organization?

The Master of Science in Human Resource Management (HRM) aims tograduate students who are able to define, analyze, and evaluateproblems and issues related to the management of work andemployment of people in organizations. In the MScHRM you will gainacademic knowledge and skills to consider and explore how HRMpolicies and practices can be developed and applied to ensure theavailability, employability, commitment and vitality of employeesneeded to accomplish organisational goals. You will learn to dothis by taking an evidence-based, scientific approach. This willprepare you for a professional HR career in any type oforganization.

In the one-year Master's degree program in HRM you followcourses that cover both a strategic and a behavioural perspectiveof HR. You will learn to match the supply and demand of labour,both at a macro and micro-level, and to anticipate internal andexternal changes that affect the management of work and people inan organization. You will learn about factors that play a role thisprocess (such as law, pay, leadership, and teams) and will alsohave the possibility to expand this with other topics (for example,technological development, internationalization of business, or business ethics). You complete the programme by performing researchand writing a thesis.
