About Chemical Engineering (J) at University of Groningen

How can you design a slow-release drug system and produce it in sufficient amounts? How can we make biodiesel from the Jatropha plant? How can we use waste products for pharmaceutical purposes?

These are some of the interesting questions you will be able toanswer once you have completed the Master's degree programme inChemical Engineering in Groningen. Groningen offers a Master'sdegree programme for students who already have asolid background in chemistry, and who are eager to expand their knowledge and experience.

The two-year programme offers four specialisations,besides a core programme (compulsory for every student):

  • Polymeric Products

Your research project takes place in one of our research groups,including the Zernike Institute of Advanced Materials. TheZernike Institute is ranked in the Times Higher Education'sTop 15 of world's best institutes in materials science. Theinstitute is dedicated to a cross-disciplinary approach; in manyresearch groups physicists and chemists workclosely together.

Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in Groningen are the home of2016 Nobel Prize winner Ben Feringa, who has won the Nobel Prize inChemistry for his research on a light-driven rotary molecular motor.
