About Nanoscience at University of Groningen

Nanoscience is the study of the fundamental and functional properties of matter on the nanoscale (~10nm). The challenge for scientists is to understand the fascinating world of small length scales.

The properties of matter on the nanoscale often differcompletely from macroscopic properties. Nature has made good use ofnanoscale phenomena. How can scientists understand and exploit thenew technological possibilities it offers?

The Top Master Programme in Nanoscience has beenreviewed as excellent on all aspects (Dutch Ministry of Education)and is embedded in a world top 20 research institute. It aims totrain the cutting edge scientists of the future. It offers achallenging programme for very talented and motivated students. Itis strongly intertwined with research at the ZernikeInstitute for Advanced Materials: the courses are taught bytop international scientists, and a large part of the programmeconsists of actually conducting high-level scientific research.Participants come from all over the world.
