About DDM Economic Development and Growth (MEDEG) at University of Groningen

This international double degree trains you to be a well-rounded expert in the field of development. You get Master's degrees from two top-class European research universities: Groningen and Lund.

The programme provides you the theoretical andquantitative tools needed to grasp the main debates in economicsand other social sciences, as well as the deep, specialisedunderstanding of context, institutions, and historical legacies indeveloping economies required to deal with the full complexity ofdevelopment issues.
The MEDEG programme is offered by a consortium of theUniversity of Groningen (The Netherlands), Universidad Carlos IIIde Madrid (Spain) and Lund University (Sweden). Candidates studythe first year either in Groningen or Madrid. In the second yearall students move to Sweden to specialise in development and growthissues at Lund University School of Economics and Management.

The Groningen-Lund programme provides rigoroustraining in economics and quantitative methods and offers a varietyof electives in central topics in development. At the end of eachprogramme year you complete an independent research project,closely supervised by faculty.
On successful completion, you will obtain an MSc inInternational Economics and Business of the University ofGroningen, and a Master Degree in Social Science with major inEconomic Development and Growth of Lund University.
