Imagine a peaceful, prosperous and environmentallysustainable world society respecting human dignity and socialjustice. Would this be possible without internationallaw? Do not dream, make it work! Allowyourself to become a good international lawyer by getting to knowthe achievements and shortcomings or international lawtoday. Develop ideas about how to improveinternational law and acquire the skills to advise your government,an international organization, a company, individuals, orgroups.

The programme is designed to provide an optimal mix toensure the realization of our goals in the field of knowledgedissemination and the training of academic, legal and practicalskills. Within these parameters the programme offers someflexibility in the range of courses that can be chosen. Studentscan opt for a peace & security, an economic/environmental or adispute settlement profile. The master's thesis allows you to spendconsiderable time to study a topic of your choice under thesupervision of an experienced staff member.

On top of providing the Admissions Board with transcripts anddiplomas, students should have an equivalent minimum GPA (GradePoint Average) of 7/10 (Dutch grading scale).

basic knowledge of public international law, on a similar levelas the course Public International Law and elementary knowledge ofEuropean Law

language test

If you are not a native speaker of English, you will need toprovide proof of English language proficiency:

  • TOEFL: 92 (all sections need to be at least 21; the writingsection needs to be at least 23)
  • IELTS: 6.5 (all sections need to be at least 6.0; the writingsection needs to be at least 6.5)
  • CAE or CPE
  • Applicants who are taking/have completed an English-taughtbachelor programme at a Dutch research university are exempt fromtaking an English proficiency test.
