This industry-accredited course is designed to give you knowledge and understanding to manage the international business and finance activities of any organisation.

Drawing on the specialist expertise of the Centre for International Business at the University of Leeds (CIBUL), one of the world's leading research centres, you'll explore aspects of international business while studying accounting and finance. You'll also come face to face with the latest debates and discoveries in the subject. A wide range of optional modules will also allow you to shape your degree to suit your own career plans and interests, with topics such as financial derivatives, marketing, economics, corporate governance and auditing.

Our teaching and research in International Business are ranked 3rd in the world by the 2015 Financial Times Masters in Management rankings, meaning you will study among leading academics to gain the knowledge and skills to thrive in your future career.

Accreditation

Our International Business degrees are accredited by the Institute of Export which allows you to acquire an exporting qualification after your studies and strengthens your job prospects in international trade.

  • Course content

Our degrees have a modular structure. This means that compulsory modules provide you with the core knowledge and skills that you need, while optional and discovery modules allow you to shape your course to suit your personal interests and career aspirations.

Year 1 gives you a firm grounding in key areas of international business and finance through compulsory modules. You'll learn about the key concepts and theories in both subjects, gain a foundation in economics and build the mathematical and statistical knowledge and skills that you'll need. In addition, you'll study the basics of financial accounting.

In the following year you'll learn more about research methods in international business and go into more depth on the challenges and strategies related to managing across cultures and countries. At the same time, you'll study corporate finance in depth and choose from optional modules on topics from specialist areas of economics to marketing and business history.

You'll engage with the very latest research in international business in your final year, while developing your knowledge of international strategic management. Optional modules will allow you to study more complex topics such as financial derivatives, auditing and corporate governance among others. The course culminates with an independently-researched dissertation on an international business topic of your choice, which showcases your knowledge and skills.
