About Geography (Integrated Masters) (with Planning), MGeog - at University of Manchester, School of Environment, Education and Development, University of Manchester, Faculty of Humanities

MGeog with Planning is an exciting new programme offered for the first time this year. It offers the opportunity to take three years of courses from the BA/BSc Geography programme and then a specialist fourth year in Planning which leads to a Master of Geography with Planning qualification that aims to provide students with an understanding of the full range of professional skills and knowledge relevant for future careers in planning practice. The programme is expected to be fully accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI). Unlike freestanding RTPI accredited masters programmes, all four years of this programme are eligible for student loan support.

The first three years of the programme will be primarily undertaken in the Geography Department, whilst the final year of the programme will be taught alongside other postgraduate masters students within the Planning and Environmental Management discipline. The Manchester Geography department has been rated 6th in the UK and 8th globally and Planning at the University of Manchester is one of the longest established and largest professionally recognised schools in the UK which has been delivering professionally recognised programmes in town planning since 1952. We offer a lively and interactive environment for learning, with a strong commitment to work at the cutting edge of current theoretical, practice and policy debates. We have an outstanding reputation with employers and academics, so you can be confident that a degree at Manchester will equip you with the skills that employers value most.
