Course Overview
The programme in Theology offers students a unique opportunity to investigate the great religious traditions of the world (Christianity , Judaism and Islam, as well as many others) and explore the way in which religion has impacted upon societies and cultures around them.
The discipline explores a range of ideas and concepts that help unlock the various understandings, interpretations and comparisons within the holy books and texts of the great religions of the world, with Students benefitting from this rich academic and intellectual fusion.
The Education part of the degree comprises of two modules of study per year over all three years of your degree. Typical modules within the education part of the degree will cover a range of themes from the historical development of education, learning cultures and approaches to learning, the philosophy of learning and education, and the legal frameworks within which education operates today. In addition during the second year of study students will undertake a 20-credit teaching observation in a local school. In their third year they will undertake a 40 credits dissertation that combines elements of their Education Studies with their chosen Humanities subject.

Assessment methods for the course draw upon a range of different forms and approaches that include a variety of written formats from essays (ranging from 1500 words up to 3500 words in length), book reviews, literature surveys, short 1000 word analyses, reflective journals, document analysis, palaeographic work, oral presentations delivered both in a group and individually, and both seen and unseen examinations. In addition to summative assessments the programme also undertakes a range of formative assessments that may include one or more of the following: peer assessed work, group presentations, journals, internet searches, document analysis, and bibliographic exercises.

Annual tuition fees for entry in the academic year 2017/18 are as follows:

International: £14,900

Additional Costs
There is an optional fieldtrip connected to a module for second and third year students to visit religious sites first hand. The Faculty subsidises this trip but the cost each year is dependent on airfare, location, and currency exchange rates. The Faculty aims to keep the cost in the range £400-£700.
