About International Business at Westminster Business School, London, University of Westminster

Course summary

Exciting opportunities exist for graduates who can operate with confidence in today's globalised business environment. The four-year version of this course includes a year abroad in Europe, Asia, Australia or the USA, giving you a valuable insight into another country's university business learning experience and broader cultural environment. Depending on your language skills, you can spend your year abroad studying at one of our partner institutions where business topics are taught in English or in the national language. In some cases, you can opt to combine studying abroad with an overseas work placement.

The course will equip you with the knowledge, understanding and academic skills to pursue a career in international business, or continue to postgraduate study. You will also develop the specialist knowledge, skills and capabilities you require to respond proactively and creatively to contemporary business issues and the challenges of the global business environment.

The course focuses on active student learning, through seminars, workshops, problem-based and blended learning, designed to engage your interest and to promote your learning.

Assessment methods include essays, reports, presentations and case studies, as well as time-constrained in-class tests and exams.

Past graduates of this degree have found successful employment in diverse sectors such as international business development, business consultancy, investment banking, human resource management and marketing.

Increasing numbers of students progress to further study on graduation: either taking professional qualifications or proceeding  to a specialist Masters degree.

If you are studying a Bachelor's degree at Westminster Business School, you can choose to take a year's break from your studies in your third year to do a placement.

A placement year is a great way of gaining practical work experience within an industry relevant to your studies. It increases your confidence and skills, and boosts your employability. It gives you a chance to apply the theoretical techniques you have learnt during your undergraduate degree so far to a real business environment while you work as a member of an established organisation.
