About Economics, BSc - at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU)

The BSc Economics programme will provide you with comprehensive training in the theoretical and quantitative tools used in the study of economics. You will have the opportunity to specialise in one of three areas: finance, international business, or marketing. All students receive a rigorous grounding in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics.

Why should I study Economics at XJTLU?

  • The BSc Economics programme provides you with a broad choice of optional modules with a range of theoretical and applied topics, as well as specialised modules that give you an enhanced understanding of economic theory.
  • The content has been designed so that you can choose modules according to your own academic interests.
  • In Year Three you will be offered modules that are designed to give you a more thorough understanding of the global economy and the Chinese economy in particular. These modules are complemented by finance modules that provide insight into businesses and their contribution to on-going development in China and in other countries.
  • Module leaders are continually developing links with the public and private sectors to enable you to undertake work placements that will give you an understanding of how your academic skills apply to real-world situations.
  • International Business School Suzhou at XJTLU is the first and only school in China to have a module, ECO105 Introduction to Business and Economics, accepted into the CFA Institute Investment Foundations Academic Program. Students who successfully complete this module are well-prepared to sit for the CFA Investment Foundations Program exam at a discounted registration fee.
  • Earn two degrees: an XJTLU degree from the Chinese Ministry of Education and a globally recognised degree from the University of Liverpool, a member of the Russell Group of leading UK universities.

Accreditation

International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) is one of an elite group of institutions worldwide to be accredited by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), a globally recognised standard for the highest quality in business education.
