About Civil Engineering, MSc - at Trinity College Dublin

This is a one-year full-time or two-year part-time postgraduate course designed to provide graduate engineers with advanced knowledge in various aspects of Civil Engineering.

The main areas covered in this course are:

  • Environmental Engineering

  • Transportation Engineering


Students are free to take any combination of subject modules within the framework outlined.

Lectures extend over two eight-week semesters (October - March inclusive) with an average of 12 lectures per week.

A major dissertation is undertaken during the second half of the course (April - September inclusive).

Entry Requirements

A good honors degree in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline. Fees For 2005/06, the course fee will be approximately €4,364 for EU residents and €15,587 for non-residents, plus €33 registration fee. USI Levy fee of €3.81 is also to be paid.

Module Selection

The degree programme is divided into three parts: two semesters of taught courses and a major dissertation on an agreed topic.

In the first semester students take the module A1 and three other modules. All first semester lectures will be presented in an eight-week period from early October up to the end of November with an examination in A1 before Christmas and examinations in all other subjects at end of March.

In the second semester, students must select A2 and three other modules. Exams will take place at end of March.
