About International Relations (International Political Economy), Postgraduate Diploma - at University of Birmingham

This programme is for students from all over the world who are interested in the problems, challenges and opportunities presented by globalisation, and for students wanting to gain an advanced knowledge of the theories and practice of international political economy, from a range of different disciplinary and empirical perspectives.

The origins, structure and politics of the contemporary global market economy are at the heart of the study of International Political Economy. The global political and economic order is ever-changing under such influences as development, inequality, environmental change and the global economic crisis and recovery.

This programme covers the theoretical foundations of International Political Economy, including the origins, structure and politics of the contemporary global market economy. It also explores changes to the global political and economic order, and a range of issues that are central to the study of contemporary International Political Economy. It covers: The theoretical foundations of International Political Economy (IPE), The origins, structure and politics of the contemporary global market economy, Changes to the global political and economic order, A range of issues central to the study of contemporary IPE, including international economic organisations and regimes, Development, Poverty and inequality, Gender and Environmental sustainability. This programme is for students from all over the world who are interested in the problems, challenges and opportunities presented by globalisation, and for students wanting to gain an advanced knowledge of the theories and practice of international political economy, from a range of different disciplinary and empirical perspectives.

Entry requirements

Students need to have an IELTS score of 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band.
