About International & Comparative Public Law, LLM - at University of Exeter

This programme aims to expose Public Law to the wider international dimensions within a rigorous comparative context. The programme examines Public Law problems from a variety of perspectives, including that of international organisations, European institutions, human rights, civil liberties and refugees. It also investigates how different national systems cope with similar Public Law problems yet arrive at different solutions. The principal advantage of this programme is that it offers an opportunity to address these problems and issues at each of these various levels. The degree provides a unique qualification for anyone interested in pursuing a career in public service in both the national and international sectors or in non-governmental organisations.

Applications will be considered from candidates whose initial degree, although not in Law, has included law modules.

The method of teaching is by small seminar groups. Students are expected to prepare papers in advance on a given topic which they then present at the following seminar, under the guidance of the appropriate module supervisor.

Entry requirements Normally a reasonably good Law degree, and a sound understanding of the basic principles of public and private law. We are happy to consider students with qualifications or degrees other than in Law, eg Accountancy or Business Studies, if those qualifications include a substantial legal element.
