About European Studies, MPhil - at University of Exeter

This unrivalled programme examines the political process of European integration, its origins, dynamics and prospects within a rigorous theoretical and empirical framework. It addresses key issues in European integration such as governance and policymaking, democratisation/Consitutionalisation, European identity and public sphere, external relations, nationalism, and security.

Exeter has a high concentration of EU expertise who are integrated into wider national and international research networks. The modules are taught by high calibre well-known scholars in the field, including Claudio Radaelli, Dario Castiglione, Susan Banducci, Stephen Wilks, Alison Harcourt, Claire Dunlop, Andrew Massey, and Nicole Bolleyer. Regular seminars and workshops are held with high profile external speakers. A new exchange programme has been established. Students have the option of spending one semester at the highly prestigious Centres d'Etudes Européennes de Sciences-Po in Paris as a part of the programme. The programme also offers an opportunity to visit the institutions of the European Union in Strasbourg, Luxembourg and Brussels on a one-week tour.

Duration 12 months full-time; 24 months part-time.

Entry Requirements Normally a 2:1 degree or above. Undergraduate degrees in Politics or a relevant social science are preferable but not a requirement in all cases.
