About Geospatial Systems, PhD - at University of Nottingham

The Geospatial Systems CDT will deliver a world-leading generation of engineers, scientists and practitioners trained in geospatial data science and its application within interdisciplinary PhD research on:

  • smart cities
  • urban and infrastructure resilience
  • spatial mobility (transport)
  • energy systems
  • sustainable spatial planning
  • structural monitoring
  • social inclusion and healthy living
  • environmental applications
  • the translation of geospatial methods to global challenges

When studying with the CDT, you will undertake a four year PhD. In year one, you will study towards an MRes in Geospatial Data Science. You will gain specialist joint training in:

  • spatial data capture
  • management
  • analysis
  • statistics
  • modelling
  • visualisation

Entry requirements

Minimum of a 2:1 degree in Engineering, Geographical Sciences, Computing or Mathematics or related disciplines.


IELTS:6.0 (no less than 5.5 in each element)
