Abertay is one of the top Universities in the UK for investment in IT facilities, and in Scotland for investment in library facilities. Networked PCs are available for use across the campus and the ratio of PCs to students is one of the best in any UK university.

The multi award-winning library includes fully equipped seminar rooms for teaching information and IT skills, group study rooms, and a specialist legal library. Part of the building has 24-hour access to IT and study facilities as well as a time-out area.

The Abertay GameLab was opened in September 2008 to provide a modern multi-disciplinary working environment for the teaching of game technology and game application development.

Student Life

The Student Centre opened in 2005 and provides and advanced and innovative facility for Abertay students and staff by creating a vibrant heart for the University with first-class social and cultural facilities. The red sandstone exterior houses an original interior design that is home to a cinema, coffee bars, exhibition and performance space and a fabulous roof-top terrace.

The Student Centre provides leisure and fun events including theme nights, comedy nights, live bands, karaoke and quiz nights.

The University also has its own Pipe Band - the Abertay University Piping and Traditional Music Club was formed in 2001 and aims to promote piping, drumming, traditional music and ceilidh dancing within the University and in the wider community.
