About Management, MRes - at University of Exeter Business School

The production of innovative research of an international standard is central to the school's mission. In the last national Research Assessment Exercise in 2000, both the economics department and the accountancy and finance departments within the school scored 5, which means that these departments were judged as producing research of 'international excellence'.

Research in the school is concentrated within three departments (economics, accountancy and management), and two specialist centres in finance (Xfi) and leadership (CLS). In addition, there are specialised research centres in experimental economics (FEELE), the service economy (CServ) and the Exeter Centre for Research in Strategic Processes and Operations (XSPO) There is also considerable cross-disciplinary research within the school and with other departments in the university. Each unit within the school has a strong research culture, with regular seminars, easy access to databases and an active PhD programme.

Members of all the school's departments and centres publish in the leading international journals, and a number play significant roles in the academic community and policy debate. Twelve journals are currently edited within the school, and staff members are on the editorial boards of twenty-five other internationally recognised journals. Members of the school have been particularly successful in obtaining research grants from the Economic and Social Research Council and other funding bodies, including government departments and companies.
