If you dream of a career as a Studio EngineerMastering EngineerProducerLive Sound TechnicianPA Systems EngineerAV Technician & Installer, or if you want to work as a Sound Designer or Post-Production Specialist for film and television including Dolby Atmos 3D immersive sound, this course is for you.

The Audio Engineering course is perfect for students who want to be producers and specialists in a variety of audio production fields including live sound, recordingproducing and post-production. You will be taught and mentored by experienced industry experts who are currently working as live sound technicians, producers, and post-production specialists.

You will work with analogue and digital equipment in our cutting-edge facilities, where you will master a variety of software and learn in small-sized classes so that you finish the degree with a wealth of hands-on experience. Audio Engineering students also work closely with students from other courses to gain a well-rounded understanding of processes involved in the music and entertainment industry.

Collarts offers students a variety of real-life industry experiences so that they are career-ready when they graduate. Through our industry partnerships, students have opportunities to partake in a variety of real-world business experiences, gaining access to industry connections.

Students will graduate with a well-rounded understanding of audio production and live sound, both in Australia and overseas.

Entry requirements

Students must first meet the general entry requirements before progressing to the interview stage and meeting additional specific course entry requirements.

All international student applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of commencement of study.

The academic minimum entry requirement is one of the following:

  • Completion of an Australian Year 12 Senior Secondary Certificate of Education or overseas equivalent
  • International Baccalaureate
  • Completed Australian AQF (Australian Qualifications Framework) Certificate IV
  • Completed Foundation year at any Australian Higher Education Provider
  • Completed one full-time semester at any Australian Higher Education Provider
  • Completed one full-time year at an overseas Higher Education Provider.

Meet the minimum English proficiency requirements evidenced by achieving an IELTS 6.0 (no band lower than 6.0) or equivalent

  • Applicants who do not meet the minimum English Proficiency Levels can take an intensive English course to gain the required level of proficiency at one of Collarts’ pathway provider partners.
  • All documents must be certified and translated (if originals are not in English).
